A twitter thread, which I’m hoping appears below in the correct order
2) the student wrote the most beautiful inscription, but she was also there when a different girl said, "hey sir, I've got this book I think you'll love" and tried to loan me a battered copy of Good Omens… the same copy I'd loaned out years before to someone else

4) I then loaned it to ANOTHER student and never saw it again hence the treasured gift

6) I told this story again a few years ago after we sadly lost Sir Terry and Neil Gaiman responded once more because he's a bloody good bloke

8) On a flight, I sat next to a guy reading Nation… a book I'd never heard of. I was reading Good Omens, which he'd never heard of. We swapped then and there. Nation just edges Good Omens for the top spot with me now. I like to think Good Omens is that man's favourite.

10) Then came the TV show, @GoodOmensPrime, and booklovers everywhere trembled in fear… but it was perfect! It still remains, I believe, an almost impossibly faithful adaptation. We watched it as a family. We frequently revisit, like an old friend.

12) So, yes, happy birthday to the stunning and life-changing Good Omens! 33 years. Just one more, and you've beaten Jesus at living.
